In case you missed it on our socials: we're happy to announce that, due to high demand, the registration deadline for the ECIA conference Substance – Research in Interior Architecture and Design, taking place on 24–25 April, 2025, both in Oslo and online, has been extended to Friday, 18 April!!

 

Substance is a two-day hybrid conference that brings together interior architects, researchers, educators, and students from across Europe to share insights and explore the role of research in shaping the future of interior architecture. On the second day results from our EU-funded project "Building on Connections for a Stronger Profession" carried out over the past 3 years will be presented, including the release of the Research Report, the launch of the ATLAS Archive and the announcement of the winner of the ECIA Interior Award 2025.

 

Some highlights of the program:

Thursday, 24 April 

  •  
  • Three thematic sessions featuring 18 lectures by academics and practitioners from 9 countries

 

  • Topics include design processes, materiality, pedagogical approaches, and the role of interiors in a rapidly changing world
  • Each session is followed by a moderated discussion and interactive Q&A between onsite and online participants
  •  

Friday, 25 April

Morning: Presentation of four projects developed through the ECIA EU-funded project "Building on Connections for a Stronger Profession"::

  • the official release of the report of the "Spider Models Research"
  • the launch of the ATLAS Archive, the online repository to centralize and share knowledge in the discipline of interior architecture.
  • presentation of the results of the working group "Growing the Network"
  • a promotional lecture about the ECIA Charter of Interior Architecture Training

Afternoon: Sightseeing in Oslo - guided tour in the city centre where we will be invited into some of the city’s most exciting buildings.

Evening: Gatthering for

  • the Award Ceremony of the ECIA Interior Award 2025
  • the Celebration of NIL’s 80th anniversary

Locations: Kristiania University of Applied Sciences, Campus Fjerdingen, Christian Krohgs gate 32, Oslo (Conference) and

Faksen Bar at Telegrafen, Nedre Slottsgate 6, 0157 Oslo (Award ceremony and celebration of NILs 80th anniversary)

Format: Attend in person or join online (for both registration required!)

Cost: Free participation, dinner on Friday €60 (travel and accommodation not included)
